Home Dental Care

Home dental care is very important to ensure healthy teeth, gums, and a beautiful smile. Proper brushing is essential for cleaning teeth and gums effectively.

Tooth Brushing - For best results, brush your teeth with a fluoride toothpaste at least twice a day for approximately 2-3 minutes each time. Use a toothbrush with soft, round-ended bristles. A new toothbrush is recommended every three to four months.

  1. Once you have your toothbrush in hand, place the bristles at a 45-degree angle and make sure the bristles touch both the tooth surface and the gumline.
  2. Brush a small gourp of teeth (2-3 at a time) in a circular or elliptical motion and continue until each tooth has been brushed.
  3. Brush the outside, inside, and the chewing surfaces of each tooth.
  4. Brush the tongue gently to remove bacteria and freshen breath.
  5. Repeat the steps twice a day.

Flossing - Flossing plays an important role in a daily tooth care regiment. Flossing loosens and pushes out food particles and plaque where the toothbrush can sweep them away.

  1. Take 16-18 inches of waxed or unwaxed dental floss and wind each end around the middle finger or each hand.
  2. Insert the floss between the teeth to loosen food particles and bacteria. Use your thumbs and index fingers to move the floss up and down to clean the sides of each tooth. Make sure to go below the gumline, forming a "C" on the side of each tooth.

Rinse - Don't forget to rinse your mouth with water after brushing.
